Keith Walker Former Student, Degree Validator, Supervisor and Lecturer.

Colin’s teaching and knowledge of drumming and percussion is based on a lifetime of experience and enthusiasm. Colin’s passion for drumming and percussion is unabated and evident in every lesson. In the CODA teaching studio there is always a new and exciting development, groove or innovation to drive students forward. His teaching approach is to provide students with transferable skills. These allow students to develop into working musicians, able to independently contribute to their own musical projects whether these are based in blues, Latin, rock, funk, Jazz or the latest hybrid fusion. The method used involves breaking down potentially complex skills into constituent elements and slowly bringing the student to speed with technical insights essential for the working musician. These are skills that last a lifetime. All drummers, at whatever level, can benefit from Colin’s input and analysis.

After two years of lessons with a local music institute I did not feel the individual touch to keep me motivated, At this point I decided to try Colin’s facility. It was the best move I ever made; his studio is perfect and his understanding and teaching skills are second to none!

If you want to go all the way; Colin will take you. He helped me to understand the instrument. It was not easy, but with practise and a lot of hard work I began to notice a tremendous improvement in both my listening and playing skills. I now play in a band and thanks to Colin I am keeping up with the theory of music as well as the drumming.
